Using large state-of-the-art databases, we are studying relationships of abnormal DNA hypermethylation and hypomethylation in cancer to transcription. This research is uncovering insights into the functionality of these aberrations by comparing normal developmental changes in DNA methylation, chromatin epigenetics, and gene expression to those in cancer. Our findings are relevant to the discovery of novel cancer markers and development of cancer therapeutics as well as to furthering our understanding of how epigenetics drives and maintains differentiation. https://epigeneticssocietyint.com/message/president
