Hypertension is one of the most prevalent conditions. The renin-angiotensin system (RAS) is known to play important roles in blood pressure control. Since intrarenal RAS is activated in many forms of hypertension, the renal RAS is acknowledged as a key target for clinical and biochemical studies. Recent studies have revealed that RAS and cytokines contribute to the development of hypertension. Therefore, my research interest is elucidation of molecular mechanisms underlying regulation of intrarenal RAS by the cytokine-activated JAK-STAT pathway.
