Trauma informed care in the pediatric emergency room

Gita Chadalawada, Tulane Pediatrics Department

Project Description

Administering the UCLA Brief Screen for Child/Adolescent Trauma and PTSD to all stable patients 7 to 18 years old presenting to the Children’s Hospital of New Orleans Emergency Department. Screening will be from 1-8pm on weekdays starting in late May or June until the end of August.

Project Outcome

Create a descriptive analysis of trauma in New Orleans youth by correlation PTSD score with race, ethnicity, age, gender, and/or neighborhood. My long term goal is to understand the interaction between childhood trauma and interactions with the justice system based on neighborhood.
